The mayor of Chicago has finally made good on his bet with the three Tampa Bay mayors over the Rays-White Sox series. The big winner: The homeless.
St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker and other local officials will present the donated food to residents of Pinellas Hope, the Pinellas County homeless shelter at 5726 126th Ave. N.
Mayor Richard Daley delivered Polish sausages from Vienna Beef, chips from the C. J. Vitner Company, Lemonheads candy from Ferrara Pan Candy and certificates for 26 cases of Pepsi.
If the Rays had lost, Daley would have gotten a Florida beach picnic, including grouper, conch fritters, stone crab and local specialties from restaurants in St. Petersburg, Tampa and Clearwater.
But they didn't lose, did they?
Daley also announced that Wilson Sporting Goods donated a athletic equipment for children as part of his bet. That arrives at a later date.
